Peek-a-boo
I have an obsession with dip-dyed curtains. I think they look awesome.
I was at my previous position for four years. Four long years that included three years of tentative job searching. I’m now in a part of the non-profit field that I want to be in and I can actually see a future in it. This past year has been an excellent one for me and I felt like the only thing that was really missing was a career that I enjoyed. I feel so fortunate and want to thank everyone who was so supportive to me during my search. Love you all.
Now a little pro con pro between my last job and this one:
Pro: There are young people in this office! People I would be friends with. For someone who has had virtually no work friends in four years this is a big deal. I can go to lunch with people!
Con: Pay cut that was inevitable with any job change. Oof.
Pro: Proximity and time. My commute has gone from an hour a day to 20 minutes and I work 7 hours instead of 8. I got home today and it was still light out.
Con: A huge bump in responsibility and work load. Ok, this isn’t really a con because finally I have something to do at work.
Pro: I get my very own office for the first time.
Con: I am expected to do some cutesy decorating job on this office. I don’t do cutesy decorating. I didn’t have a single picture at my last office. The only things I needed to take with me on my last day were a mug and ear buds. Also, it seems that everyone used the empty room as an opportunity to ditch their filing cabinets before I arrived. What the hell am I to do with all of them?
Pro: I’m so happy. Bursting with happy. This is unlike me, but I’m enjoying it.
